PADDLER 6周年

みなさんこんにちは！

ケニーです。 時間が経つのは本当に早い。

6年前、初めての株式会社を立ち上げました。 当時32歳、次女が生まれたばかりで、コロナの真っ只中。この先どうなるのか、正直まったく分からない状況でした。ただひとつ確かだったのは、プロのSUPアスリートとして世界を飛び回る「自分のためだけの」生活から少しペースを変えて、自分に全てを与えてくれた大好きなパドリングを日本で広めたいという想いでした。

そこで、当時まだ存在しなかった「日本のパドラーのためのブランド」を作ろうと決めました。利益目的でインフレータブルボードから始めるブランドが多い中、そこに留まらず、本気で表彰台を狙えるレースボードや独自開発のパドルまで手がける。それがKOKUAです。

同時にオープンしたのが、ショップ「PADDLER」。パドリングに関するすべてが集まる場所として、ギアやイベントなど、いろんなかたちでコミュニティをつなぐハブを目指したいと思いました。

それから6年。今は38歳、5人家族になり、5人の最高なスタッフと一緒に成長を続けています。SUPアスリートとしてのキャリアはひと区切りつき、今は結果を求めて海に出るというより、パドリングの楽しさをみんなとシェアすることが一番になりました。コミュニティは6年前には想像もできなかったほど大きくなり、ブランドも日本を飛び出して、世界中にファンベースを広げています。

周年パーティーは、PADDLERをここまで育ててくれたお客さん、そしてファンのみんなに「ありがとう」を伝えたくて始めたものです。ファンの皆さんがいなければ、PADDLERはただの中身のないアパレルブランド、どこにでもある普通のお店で終わっていたと思います。

というわけで、今年もみんなで一緒にお祝いしましょう！美味しいごはん、いい音楽、豪華な抽選会、そして仲間のパドラーたちとゆっくりトークストーリーできる週末に、ぜひ遊びにきてください！

PADDLER: Six Years

It's crazy how time flies.

Six years ago, I set up my first company. I was 32, had just welcomed my second daughter, and we were in the middle of COVID, not knowing what the future held. All I knew was that I wanted a change of pace from the self-centered life of traveling the world as a professional SUP athlete, and to grow the sport that gave me everything here in Japan.

So I set out to build a brand that didn't exist back then, one made for Japanese paddlers. While many brands were starting out with inflatable boards for the sake of profit, we wanted to go further: race boards built to genuinely compete for the podium, and paddles we developed ourselves. That brand is KOKUA.

Alongside it, we opened a shop called PADDLER: a hub for all things paddling, a place to bring the community together through gear, events, and everything in between.

Fast forward six years. I'm 38, with a family of five and a growing business with five amazing employees. My career as a SUP athlete is behind me, and my time on the water is less about results and more about sharing the love of paddling with everyone. The community has grown into something I never could have imagined, and the brand has reached beyond Japan to fans around the world.

We started our anniversary parties as a way to say thank you to every customer and fan who has helped make PADDLER what it is. Without you, PADDLER would be nothing more than an empty apparel brand, just another business like the ones you see everywhere else.

So come celebrate with us for another weekend of good food, good music, a big raffle, and a chance to hang out and talk story with fellow paddlers.
